I was working on different shading techniques today.  This is one of the more successful results.   While I was working I kept dropping my pencils and breaking the inch long leads I’d carefully scrapped away.   Inch long leads were obviously not made for clumsy people like me!

I also spent a lot of my time toning paper.  I recently bought a slew  of printing and drawing papers from the art store with the idea that I would try them and see which ones I like best.  Of course, I falied to write down the names of any of them.

Oh well.  The weather was very nice.

I know that doesn’t look like it, but that is an onion.  It is also another shading practice.  Now, maybe I’m just complaining, but I think a white onion might be easier to paint than it is to draw.

(it’s a loaf of bread that I picked the corner off of)
I did this during a long, boring day at work. It was inspired, in part, by the ball point pen drawings at the New York Academy of Art’s website, here.
